Hello, L.E.E. Cluster family

My name is Melissa Castillo-Cerda. I am the L.E.E. Cluster Family Engagement Liaison. I became the Family Specialist for North East Alternative Center in August 2017. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I have 22 years of experience of working in the social service field, which includes Children’s Shelter of San Antonio, Child Protective Services, Pathways Youth and Family Services, and San Antonio Family Endeavors. I began working with the public schools in December of 2011. My passion is to assist and provide community outreach to our families and students who are in need of assistance. I am happy to be here to provide you with the knowledge and resources to guide you through the parenting role with your children. Please reach out to me if you need guidance. Thank you! 

  • Our Mission

    Family Engagement creates and sustains partnerships with students, families, and the community to ensure high levels of learning for all.

    Family Specialists

    Family Specialists are available to all NEISD families. They assist in various ways, such as:

    provide families with information from the district, community agencies, city and state institutions, and any other organizations that might benefit those with specific needs;

    • facilitate and conduct parent-education classes, counseling and mentoring;
    • assist students and families to reach their maximum educational benefits;
    • provide support to those who are in an emotional or financial crisis.

    Family Engagement Courses

    Family Engagement Course are free to all parents, grandparents, or community members. Participants are offered information on a wide variety of subjects.

    5. Leadership and Community Service
