GARNER MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELING TEAM--Mrs. Magadance (STAN), Dr. Martinez (A-K), Mrs. White (L-Z)
Dear Garner Families,
As the first semester continues, we are seeing more and more students on campus. We understand the need for some students to be at home, while others are able to return on campus. If you'd like your student to attend in person, plesae send an email to your child's counselor.
Also, please don't hesitate to reach out anytime you or your child needs support. You can email or call us directly. Students can also contact us via the Counselors' Corner Google Classroom. We can set up a time to talk with you and/or your child.
Please know that we understand how challenging this time is for our students and families. The most important thing right now is to do all we can so that we can all stay healthy.
Students should all be invited to the counselors' Google Classroom. Please have them accept this invitation from Dr. Martinez, Mrs. White, or Mrs. Magadance. We will be sharing some information on relevant social-emotional topics and conducting guidance lessons via Zoom. Please remember to take time each day to focus on your child's and your physical and emotional well-being. If you have any specific concerns or need anything, please reach out to us.

Comprehensive Guidance Plan
The guidance curriculum is designed to systematically provide lessons to students that facilitate growth, development, and transferable skills in the areas of educational, career, personal, and social development. Guidance lesson topics will include Healthy Coping Skills and Mental Health, Healthy Relationships, Bullying, Cyber-Bullying, and Social Media Safety, and Healthy Life Choices.
The purpose of responsive services is to intervene on behalf of students whose immediate personal concerns or circumstances put their continued educational, career, personal, and social development at risk. These services include responding to crisis, individual counseling, group counseling, and parent conferences.
The purpose of individual planning is to guide all students as they plan, monitor, and manage their individual educational, career, personal, and social development.
The purpose of system support is to identify and coordinate resources and activities on campus and in the community that indirectly benefit students.
