Miss Holtz
Welcome to Dyslexia Intervention & Reading 8!
I graduated from UTSA in 2001 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Communication. I received my alternative teaching certificate in 2004 as a 4-8 Generalist, following the completion of Region 20's alternative teaching program. I began my career in Northside where I taught for eight years. During that time, I earned my Masters in Educational Administration from Concordia University in 2009 and principal certification. After leaving NISD, I taught for two years in Colorado Springs before returning to Texas. Since returning, I have been with NEISD, teaching two years at Jackson Middle School and finally landing at Nimitz Middle School.
I am currently teaching two sections of Dyslexia Intervention, one section of 8th grade Virtual Reading, and two sections of 8th grade In Person Reading. I am also the Nimitz 504 Coordinator for Nimitz & STEM.
I love teaching reading, and I especially love teaching reluctant readers. I find it a challenge to help students who don't like to read become lifelong readers. My hope is to help your children grow into not only strong readers, but strong individuals who have confidence in their abilities and know that their future is limitless.
