Miss Cori Holtz

Welcome to Reading Workshop! This year marks my fourth year at Nimitz and my 16th year in education.

I graduated from UTSA in 2001 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Communication. I received my alternative teaching certificate in 2004 as a 4-8 Generalist, following the completion of Region 20's alternative teaching program. I began my career in Northside where I taught for eight years. During that time, I earned my Masters in Educational Administration from Concordia University in 2009 and principal certification. After leaving NISD, I taught for two years in Colorado Springs before returning to Texas. Since returning, I have been with NEISD, teaching two years at Jackson Middle School and finally landing at this home I love, Nimitz Middle School.

I am currently teaching two sections of Dyslexia Intervention and one section of 7th grade Reading Workshop. I am also the Nimitz 504 Coordinator this year, which is a new position for me and a challenge I am excited to take on. Other responsibilities I enjoy include NJHS co-adviser and supporter of athletes and athletic events by working the majority of campus games.

I love teaching reading, and I especially love teaching reluctant readers. I find it a challenge to help students who don't like to read become lifelong readers. My hope is to help your children grow into not only strong readers, but strong individuals who have confidence in their abilities and know that their future is limitless.
