      1. What is the Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA) magnet school program? SETA is the premier open enrollment magnet school program for students interested in preparing for a career in the engineering industry. It provides students with four educational career pathways: aerospace engineering, aviation technology engineering, computer science engineering, and manufacturing and mechanical engineering, and they also have the opportunity to obtain engineering job certifications in high school.

      2. Who can apply for SETA? Students from all over San Antonio, regardless of address or boundaries, are eligible to apply to SETA. NEISD designed SETA to be available to all students, with enrollment open to the public for the magnet school program. 

      3. What grades are eligible to be enrolled in SETA ? SETA's magnet school program spans from sixth to twelfth grade. The program is currently accepting students from the sixth-grade class at Krueger Middle School and the ninth-grade class at Roosevelt High School for the inaugural school year.

      4. What distinguishes SETA from other schools? SETA stands out for its strong foundation, which includes an esteemed advisory board composed of industry leaders, higher education representatives, and experienced community members. Additionally, SETA has a Space Act Agreement with NASA, enabling the integration of NASA's expertise and resources into the curriculum and providing students with real-world experiences.

      5. How many career pathways are available at SETA? SETA offers four distinct career pathways: aerospace engineering, aviation technology engineering, computer science engineering, and manufacturing & mechanical engineering.

      6. What job certifications can students obtain at SETA? Students at SETA have the opportunity to obtain six industry-based certifications. These certifications include Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Certification, Drone Pilot's license, Level I Certificate of Completion in Aircraft Structures Mechanic, Level I Certificate of Completion in Aircraft Turbine Mechanic, Certification in Java, and FANUC Robot Operator 1.

      7. Can students transition directly into the workforce after graduating from SETA? Depending on their chosen pathway and certification, students can transition into the workforce immediately upon graduation. However, some pathways are more suitable for pursuing higher education in college and post-secondary institutions.

      8. Are there internships and job opportunities available for SETA students? Currently, SETA is working with our industry partners, like NASA, and the City of San Antonio to create job and internship opportunities for its students. These future opportunities would be available during both the academic year and throughout the summer.

      9. How does SETA prepare students for the engineering jobs of the future? SETA's comprehensive educational program equips students with the necessary skills for successful careers in engineering. The curriculum is infused with real-world knowledge and experiences from NASA, and students can receive industry certifications tailored to their chosen pathway. Our resourceful advisory board and industry partnerships further enhance career opportunities for students after graduation. 

      10. How can I apply to SETA? To apply to SETA, you can submit an NEISD magnet school program application. However, spots are limited, so it is recommended to apply as soon as possible to seek a spot at SETA.
