Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6th General Education Certification

Ms. Cristina Medrano

Introduction:

Ms. Cristina Medrano
5th Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher

Educational Background:

I graduated from Texas A&M University - San Antonio in May 2020 (pandemic grad!) with a bachelors degree in education. I have my Early Childhood - 6th Grade General Education certification.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe every student should have equal opportunities to learn and grow. I believe in looking at the entire child and not just at academics, although they are important. Teaching and learning have always been incredibly important to me. Growing up with parents who instilled a desire to learn and succeed has helped me become the teacher I am today. I love to teach students about social-emotional well-being. It is important to learn how to cope with everyday triggers and experiences in a healthy way without being invalidated. I love to encourage friendships and kindness in my students. I encourage my students to create a kind, loving and accepting environment for all.  Academics are incredibly important and so are social skills. I think it is important to focus on building up the whole child, not just in the subjects we teach, but in the life lessons we experience every day. I am committed to your kiddos and their success in all subject areas AND their social-emotional state.

Teaching Experience:

This will be my 3rd year teaching. I have been at Clear Spring since 2021, as a long-term substitute, then a regular substitute, then a tutor, then an assistant for summer school and then finally a teacher! I've been committed to Clear Spring from the moment I stepped foot here. Although it is only my 3rd year as an official teacher, I have been embedded in a school since I was a junior in high school (2012). I have participated in many programs including; Ready, Set, Teach!, tutoring programs through college, work study programs with SAISD, KIN with NEISD for 4 years. Not to mention, I am a born & bred NEISD alumni as well. I went to Harmony Hills Elementary School, Eisenhower Middle School and then graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 2014. My younger siblings followed a similar path and I have always been involved and volunteered at their school events as well.
