• I'm excited about the 2024-2025 school year! This is my 17th year teaching in NEISD. I taught for four years as a middle school math and science teacher. This is my 13th year as the Gifted and Talented (G/T) teacher for K-5 students at Olmos Elementary.

I have my Texas Educator Certifications as an EC-6th grade Elementary Generalist, as a 4th-8th grade Secondary Generalist, and in 4th-8th grade Secondary Mathematics. I also have training and certification in Pre-AP Math, Pre-AP Science, and Gifted and Talented elementary and secondary education (Kinder-12th grade).

In addition to teaching the G/T students at Olmos Elementary, I have coached the Olmos Competitive Robotics teams since 2013. Our 2023-2024 Olmos VEX Robotics teams earned the Excellence Award, Design Award, Judges Award and the Robot Skills Championship Award at the 2024 NEISD Regional Qualifier! At the 2024 VEX Robotics Region IV State Championship, our Olmos Boys team earned their place as the Runner-Up Alliance for the Team Finals and our Olmos Girls Team won the Design Award and qualified for the 2024 VEX World Championship!

I also sponsor two after-school coding clubs, the Owlettes Who Code and the Techno-OWLS, and each year both of our coding clubs are at capacity. For the past 12 years, I have co-sponsored the Olmos Dance Club with our awesome music teacher and our dance club members continually shine each year at our school and PTA performances.

The 2024-2025 school year will be my fifth year serving as an Ambassador in the NEISD Arts Integration Cohort. Ambassadors work collaboratively with the Tobin Arts Center to demonstrate and share creative ways to integrate the arts within the class curriculum.

I am honored to have represented Olmos Elementary as the NEISD 2018 Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching Award Recipient. In addition, I was privileged to be the 2016 NEISD Teacher of the Year for Olmos Elementary. I am also proud to be a lifetime recipient of the Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership Award. From 2019-2021, I was an elected staff member of NEISD's DEIC (District Educational Improvement Committee). Additionally, I am humbled to have been selected for four consecutive years as a North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) grant recipient for 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. I also had the unique opportunity to be chosen as the NEEF grant recipient guest speaker at the 2019 North East Educational Foundation Gala.

One of my proudest honors is being recognized for the past three years by NEISD Summa Cum Laude Graduates as their Honoree Teacher at the L.E.E./STEM and ISA Summa Cum Laude Graduation Ceremonies. To have my former G/T students look back so fondly on their elementary years just warms my heart and to know that I was able to contribute in any way to their success is a true honor. My former students’ achievements help inspire my current students and someday they will inspire my future students!

I have been married to my wonderfully supportive husband for 29 years. I am a San Antonio native and a proud NEISD K-12 Honor graduate, as well as both of our two children. Our son was a UTSA Distinguished Presidential Scholar in the College of Business and majored in Cybersecurity and Information Systems & Technology, and he is now a Network Systems Administrator. Our daughter was a UT-Austin Dean's Honored Graduate in the College of Natural Sciences majoring in Textile and Apparel, and she is now an Apparel Designer of a leading, global retailer specializing in apparel and accessories. We are extremely proud of both of their accomplishments!

We have two adopted "children" at our home, and they are our two rescued Huskies (pictured below). We love our adorable fur babies!
