Swim and Dive/Water Polo

All incoming Athletes have to tryout- then you will be placed in an Aquatics athletic period 1^st or 8th. Course Cards for incoming athletes will not be signed until the athlete has a tryout.

Prospective Jaguar Aquatics Team members and Current Team members must have appropriate NEISD participation packet/ medical history form/ and physical filled/signed and approved through the district prior to trying out with the team.

Season 2024-25  We will hold a tryout at Walker/Davis Pool, or Sports Park- once a month in April, May, June, for all incoming prospective swimmers and current team members, plus prospective Water Polo players. At each tryout a test set will be administered, the test set requires endurance and skill, prior competitive swimming training is a must.   All prospective swimmers should have participated in a club or summer league team program this spring in preparation for trying out.

 Swimmers may be moved from one practice to another depending on lane space and practice behavior.  Coach has the final call on which practice the swimmer will be placed in- and will advise the counseling department as to which period the swimmer will be assigned.

The Johnson Jaguar swim team is a competitive program-not a learn to swim class.  Lane space at the practice facility is at a premium-especially this year, and to provide an atmosphere conducive to a highly competitive program the following test sets are a requirement for joining the program. The set requires a swimmer to swim 100 meters repetitively at a time interval

• 1^st period standard test set: 12 x 100  freestyle @1:15 yards- 1:25 meters and demonstration of all four competitive strokes plus starts and turns.  

1^st period is our higher level athletes- test sets are designed to place athletes with like skill sets.

• 8^th period test set: 10 x 100 freestyle @1:30 yards-1:40 meters and demonstration of all four strokes plus starts and turns.
• Water Polo tryouts: prospective Water Polo team members can attend swim team tryouts and Coach Snelson will look at a series of water polo drills to include: egg beater drill, 20 x 25’s @ :35 head up freestyle, etc. The test set may be run at Water Polo Camp 24- last year’s camp was run at Davis the week after school let out for summer- I anticipate the same date and location for 24. Water Polo Camp is for incoming freshmen and middle school athletes.

The Johnson Aquatics program does not allow zero hour athletes

Tryout dates:

Saturday April 20^th Sports Park 10AM

Saturday May 25^th Davis Pool 11AM

Friday June 28^th Davis Pool 11AM
