Better together #theNEISDway

Jenna hods the NEISD way sign with text and quote

When Jenna Walker starts her first official year teaching second grade at Coker Elementary School, she won’t be doing it alone.

There’s a built-in support system for new teachers at North East ISD. Our First Year Teacher Academy is a major component in establishing trust, rapport and guidance. Jenna will have an experienced mentor teacher she can call on all year to help her navigate the many “firsts” that come with teaching.

“It’s nice to have that kind of community with teachers because they can relate,” said Walker. “They’ve all been where I’ve been. It’s nice to know there’s someone you can go to for help especially when you’re new.”

Jenna isn’t new to NEISD. She conducted her student teaching at Woodstone Elementary School. She started as a long-term substitute last year at Coker and was hired mid-year to teach fifth grade. She’s excited to be back this year in the second-grade hallway.

“I’m excited. I’ve already met my team, and they’ve been really welcoming and supportive. Some of the teachers have already taken me under their wing.”

There’s still time to join NEISD! We are hiring a variety of positions, from teachers to bus drivers, campus support staff and more. View available NEISD careers for more information and to apply today.
