Counselor's Corner

  • The school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. School Counselors strive to make each student feel that there is someone in the school who knows and cares about them. Above all else, school counselors are advocates for students. School Counselors accomplish this by acting as a resource for all students when their needs extend beyond the classroom.

Mrs. Anna Blake

Hello! My name is Anna Blake. This is my 6th year as your School Counselor at NEISD. I served Harmony Hills at half-time capacity during the previous five years. I am beyond excited to now be here full-time. I completed my Master in Education at Jacksonville State University in 1994, and my Master of Education in School Counseling at The University of West Alabama in 2009. My husband Matt and I were a teaching/administrative couple in international schools in Puerto Rico, El Salvador, and Honduras from 1997-2008. When our third baby was born in 2008, we decided to look for a more permanent home. It looks as if we found it! We have been in San Antonio since 2016.

I am committed to encouraging, supporting and empowering our students to become lifelong learners. My primary task is to help students by providing a counseling program that meets their academic, personal/social and career development needs. I will be meeting with students individually and in small groups as needed, collaborating and working as a team with parents and staff. It is ideal for our kids to understand that school staff and parents have a positive partnership. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me by phone or email.

I look forward to working with your child and having a great school year. Go Hawks!

I will be here part time and at Coker part time.  I am very excited to begin my 1st year as your counselor at Harmony Hills! This year my 18th year as an educator. I have served as a middle school Social Studies teacher for 13 years and I also served as a district wide K-12 Social Studies Curriculum Specialist for 5 years. I earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Tarleton State University in 1999, M.Ed. in Education Administration from Lamar University in 2012, and a M.Ed. in Counseling & Development from Lamar University in 2019. I began my teaching career in Southwest ISD and have also worked in Judson ISD and North East ISD. I am so excited about working with your children to help them be successful in all aspects of their lives.

My husband, Robert, and I have a beautiful blended family.  We have raised 6 great kids to adulthood and have 1 elementary aged son together. We also have quite the menagerie of animals at home!  We have 9 chickens, a Basset Hound named Jolene, a pond full of gorgeous koi fish, a parakeet named Preston, and a pygmy goat named Cash!  As a family, we enjoy traveling and camping in our RV named Miss Ellie, gardening, and cooking together. I love to read and watch movies, as well.

I know this will be an exciting school year filled with new learning and lifelong memories! Please call, email, or stop by if I can ever be of assistance to you and your child – it is my goal to support you and help your child reach their academic and social goals.

  • Dear Harmony Hills Families,

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year!  There is so much excitement in the air as we welcome our families back to our building! Your school counselors would like to reach out and re-connect with our families to share some important information.

    Role of a School Counselor

Our role is to support student academic performance by providing social/emotional, academic, and career related interventions.  This may include in-class presentations, brief individual counseling, peer mediation, small group counseling, and other targeted interventions.   We also can serve as a liaison/advocate for parents and students when working with education staff.

Our school counseling program is designed around Harmony Hill's unique needs.  Our goal is for students to grow academically, emotionally, physically, and socially.  Our hope is to provide resources that are useful and engaging to both students and parents alike!

How Can my student access the school counselor?

Students and parents can access the school counselor via email.  Additionally, students and parents can call their school counselor directly to discuss any emergent concerns.
