Santa and Nimitz staff spread holiday cheer

This week, the Nimitz Middle School Seahawk invited Santa for a stroll around their community.

Several Nimitz teachers, coaches, administrators and head custodian joined the Jolly Old Elf for an impromptu parade past students’ homes—passing out candy and spreading holiday cheer.

One neighbor was surprised when there arose such a clatter; he sprang from his bed to see what was a matter.

“As a resident, Nimitz graduate, and U.S. Navy veteran, I would like to give you and the staff that drove through my neighborhood a big thank you. It is events like this that reinforce the dedication that the staff has for the past, present and future students. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the horns blasting in down my block. My initial reaction was what the heck is going on to pure enjoyment when I saw the flapping blue wings of our beloved Seahawk to the hearty wave of good ole’ Santa Claus. This is what true spirit is all about. While we are in a difficult time, currently, it is things like this that create memories for each and every person that stepped out their door to investigate the noise.

You and your dedicated staff turned some frowns upside down and made time freeze for those few moments when you came down the street. Smiles were on everyone’s faces. I am proud to say that I was, my kids were, and my grandkids will be Seahawks.”
