Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. John Merrill
My name is John Merrill and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about beginning my 5th year as the Principal of Montgomery Elementary. Since the day I stepped on this campus, it has been my honor and privilege to serve this incredible community and the Roosevelt Cluster!
I am a native of Sacramento, California; however, San Antonio has been my home for the past 14 years. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Government from Sacramento State in 2005 and my Masters in Education from Trinity University in 2013. In 2013, I was provided with the incredible opportunity to serve in the Roosevelt cluster as the Assistant Principal of Windcrest Elementary (2013-2017). In 2018, I found my true home at Montgomery as the Assistant Principal and now Principal.
My wife Melinda and I are proud parents to 4 amazing boys, Jase (12), Jaxon (10), Jameson (6), and Jaeden (5). We have truly been blessed with a wonderful family. Also, we as a family are devoted fans of the Cleveland Browns. Yes, those Cleveland Browns. I just keep telling my boys… as long as they get better each game, it doesn’t matter if they win a game (I wonder how long they will buy that!)
I look forward to continuing this journey with each of you this year. There are amazing things happening at Montgomery and I am honored, excited, and humbled to have been selected as Principal. There is truly no place that I would rather be than right here at Montgomery Elementary. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call or email me.
