Mrs. Sarah Marquez

Mrs. Marquez is in her first year back at Walzem Elementary, where she is excited to teach STEAM to all Walzem children. STEAM - which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics - allows children to get rigorous hands-on lessons about all kinds of practical and engaging topics, from electricity to robots to pencil shading.

Mrs. Marquez is a Texas girl born and raised, who grew up in the Dallas area and attended the University of North Texas, where she majored in music education. Mrs. Marquez married her high school sweetheart, taught middle school and high school band for years, and then made her way down to San Antonio in 2012. Mrs. Marquez is now certified in Texas to teach music all levels, all elementary levels, and bilingual education. She comes back to Walzem with 11 years' teaching experience.

Mrs. Marquez is also the Walzem Robotics Coach. Vex Robotics is a competitive, international organization which teaches students to design, build, test, code, and drive robots for yearly challenges. Mrs. Marquez is a trained UDCA rep (Unlicensed Diabetic Care Advocate), as well as also being on the CIC, and serving Walzem as its Webpage Coordinator and Young Masters art representative.

Mrs. Marquez is a cat AND a dog person, and loves all animals. She is always reading a book (or three), usually with a cup of coffee or tea. Her hobbies include being outdoors, gardening, gaming, learning about tech, science and space, and spending time with loved ones. Mrs. Marquez has two children, three chickens, two dogs, a turtle, some fish, and a pet jumping spider named Lola.
