Every NEISD campus has a Registered Nurse (RN) ready to aide your student. Additionally, Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Clinic Assistants (CAs), supervised by the RN, are at designated campuses.

  • Our goal in the clinic is to help students reach their maximum potential by keeping them healthy and ready to learn. Health education, illness and injury prevention, early detection and treatment of illness, and quality skilled intervention for acute and chronic health needs are provided by the clinic staff. These services are not a substitute for a student's regular medical care. Our services are to alert parents/guardians to their student's health status, inform them of health concerns, and encourage use of the services of their physician, dentist, and community health agencies. Health Services follows the policies, requirements, and regulations established by the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Texas Board of Nursing, and North East ISD.

  • Food Allergies in the Classroom

Food allergies can be a big concern for some of our students. Please understand that we take these conditions very seriously. Be sure to add pertinent allergy information to your student's health information form. If your student requires medication, especially emergency medication for their food allergies, please contact the clinic to make a plan to protect your student.

(Classrooms with students with peanut allergies will have a letter with the following information sent home to their parents.)

"Food allergies, especially peanut allergies can be deadly. An accidental casual contact with peanuts, or even inhaling small amounts of peanut particles, can cause a severe allergic reaction and even death for those who suffer from this condition. A peanut allergy for children is a very serious issue. People can have severe reactions just by inhaling the odor or fragrance of peanuts. They can cause reactions ranging from itching or swelling of the lips, tongue, or mouth to life-threatening shortness of breath and a drop in blood pressure."

"How can you as a parent help? Avoidance, education, awareness, and preparedness are the four keys in the management of a peanut allergy. Avoidance means not eating or coming in contact with anything that has even tiny traces of peanuts. Although a child with a peanut allergy cannot always avoid all contact with this product, it becomes very difficult to manage when classmates bring snacks to school which contains peanut proteins. Let’s try to keep all our students safe and make a very concerted effort to not send any peanut products to school with your child."

  • About Our Nurse & Clinic Assistant

I have been a pediatric nurse since 2007 and joined the NEISD family in fall of 2018. I'm kid at heart and enjoy trading dad jokes for knock-knock jokes. I'm not only a staff member at Thousand Oaks Elementary School, I'm also a client; with two students who currently attend classes here.

If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s health needs, please me a call at 210-407-8003, email me at pleinw@neisd.net, or stop by the clinic where I can be found 7 AM to 3:30 PM daily during the school year.

Marylou Delgado has been with Thousand Oaks Elementary School’s clinic since 2013 and enjoys taking care of our students and meeting and engaging their families. She is proud of her own family of four beautiful girls, all still in the NEISD school system, and her long and happy marriage.
