North East ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) Volunteer Application
Each school district in the state is required to establish and maintain a district-level school health advisory council. State law requires the majority of SHAC members to be parents (of students enrolled in NEISD schools) who are not employees of NEISD. The School Health Advisory Council acts in an advisory capacity to Board of Trustees.

I am honored to be a part of the Oak Meadow community. I have been the principal at Oak Meadow for 4 wonderful years. I have been in education for 20 years. My teaching career began in early childhood in Kindergarten. I have taught K-5 grade throughout my teaching career. Prior to becoming a principal I was an Assistant Principal, Literacy Coach and Instructional Intervention Teacher.
I am married to my best friend for 12 years. We have two dogs and love to spend time with our family and friends. We especially enjoy traveling and live each day to the fullest.
Becoming a principal has brought great joy to my life as I truly love being around students, teachers and families.

Mr. John Purcell
I feel very fortunate to be part of the amazing Oak Meadow community. This is my first year at Oak Meadow as the Assistant Principal.
I have been in education for over 29 years, 16 of those as a teacher at various grade levels ranging from kindergarten through high school. I have been an assistant principal for 13 years and 5 years as a principal at a local private school.
I am a Texas State graduate, which is where I met my beautiful wife, Barbra. We have been married for 28 years. We also have two beautiful daughters, one in school at UT Austin and the oldest in nursing school. We love to spend time together and go on trips when possible. We have one dog who loves to go on walks!
My passion for education is to help students succeed and feel good about themselves. I want children to know that learning is fun and it will help them achieve their goals and dreams. It is an honor to be part of nurturing children and watching them grow. I’m really thrilled to be a Mighty Maverick!!!
