Board member, students, principal and Superintendent

Nimitz Middle School principal Jennifer Cooper introduced two of her “remarkable young leaders” as they led the October regular board meeting of the NEISD Board of Trustees.

Eighth grader Victoria Rivera led the meeting with the invocation. She serves as President of the 8th grade student council and Vice President of the Students Offering Service (SOS) club. Victoria is also in Advanced Choir, National Junior Honor Society, Academic UIL and STEM Scholars. For her volunteer efforts, she has received the prestigious Silver President’s Volunteer Service Award.

She was accompanied by her parents, Marcie and John Rivera, her brother Luke, and her grandmothers, Patsy Villarreal and Virginia Rivera.

Eighth grader Jayden Jones led the pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags. J.J. is a respected leader in Nimitz’s Junior Cadets program. He is also a multisport athlete competing in football, basketball, golf, and track, where he has earned the “Best Teammate” award. He also serves on the Student Council and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Band and Chess Club.

He was accompanied by his mom Tamaki Christian and his sister D’yasia.
