Once a Bronco, always a Bronco

Once a Bronco, always a Bronco. That’s the kind of culture at Northern Hills Elementary School – it’s positive and welcoming, a lot like family.

That feeling is a major draw for staff members like Mary Emery and Anthony Collins. Both are former Northern Hills students who are back working at one of the first schools they ever attended.

Mary works with our youngest students in an Alternative Learning Environment (ALE)

“I felt called to special education,” said Mary. “It’s a good feeling to watch them make progress and you realize they’ve come a long way. To be a good special education teacher, you have to love the kids. I also think you need to have patience and compassion.”

Anthony is the Safety Specialist at Northern Hills. He plays an integral role in reinforcing crucial safety protocols and day-to-day campus security checks. As a former member of the Army, this new role was the perfect fit for him.

While Mary and Anthony are both in the first year of their education career, they feel right at home in a familiar environment. While they were in different classes, they both have fond first grade memories growing up as a Bronco.

Now, they’re making new memories #theNEISDway
