BA in Elementary Education Masters in Education

Mrs. Debbie Stiles

I was born and raised in Washington State. Therefore, I am a proud alumni of Eastern Washington University. I have been teaching for almost 25 years. My teaching experience has taken place in Washington State and Texas. My experience includes 4th grade self contained, 4th grade Language Arts, 5th grade Language Arts, 4th and 5th grade inclusion/co-teaching, reading support, and all elementary levels while substitute teaching.

Although Washington State will always be "home", we have relocated to Texas due to my husband's job. However, after being here for 10 years, we consider it "home".  We have a son who lives and works in Houston, and a daughter who teaches 1st grade in Katy. We enjoy fishing, golfing, traveling and taking in as many sports venues as possible.

My favorite part of teaching reading and writing is the fact I get to instill in my students these life-long skills.  In our society, we have an opportunity to read and write to some extent every day.  I love motivating students to challenge themselves in reading and writing. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a student excited about their book or what they just wrote!
