It is with great pride that I serve as the principal of Canyon Ridge Elementary!

This year I celebrate my 21st year in education! Throughout my career, I have served as a teacher, literacy instructional coach and campus administrator. My journey in education has allowed me to work with students across all grade levels in elementary.

As the principal of Canyon Ridge, I am committed to embracing the positive traditions and practices that are already in place while striving towards success for the future. My goal is to work alongside the staff, parents and the community to continue this great legacy for our students. We will continue to put students first and work diligently to ensure their success.

I believe all children should receive an exemplary education in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. Together we can help our children excel and provide them with an education that is second to none. I am excited about all we will accomplish together for our children and look forward to celebrating our collective success at Canyon Ridge.

My name is Sandy Van Horn and I am currently the assistant principal at Canyon Ridge.  I have worked in the district for 18 years as a teacher, instructional specialist, and assistant principal.  This is my 7th year at Canyon Ridge and I am excited to be part of the Coyote community!

I received my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and my master’s degree in Educational Administration from UTSA the University of Texas at San Antonio. 

I am looking forward to another successful year here at Canyon Ridge!
