First Sergeant (RET) Jesse Hernandez

Welcome to the home of the Maverick Battalion- Army JROTC. My name is First Sergeant Jesse Hernandez, and I am honored to serve as the Army Instructor for James Madison High School. I am a graduate from Purdue Global University and a 20 year veteran of the Army, having served at locations around the country and the world. Some highlights from my career include a tour of duty as a Drill Instructor at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri with the 18th Military Police Brigade, leadership positions from team leader to Joint Operations in South Korea, one tour in Germany, two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan. I most recently served with Divison West at Fort Hood Texas where I mobilized National Guard and Army Reserve units to deploy to various locations around the world. I am extremely confident that James Madison High School will continue the proud JROTC tradition that has become the North East ISD standard.

The mission and vision of the Maverick JROTC program aligns itself directly with the U.S. Army Cadet Command: "Providing a quality citizenship, character, and leadership development program, while fostering partnerships with communities and educational institutions." Our standing mission is "To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens". Our program will help set the foundation for young people to make good decisions, give back to their community, and prepare for their futures. We will accomplish this through excellent communication, dedication, and teamwork. GO MAVERICKS!
