It is an honor to be the principal of Northern Hills ES for the 2023-2024 school year, home of some AMAZING Broncos! After serving ten years in administration for Comal ISD, I am beginning my fifth year as a principal in North East ISD. My husband Cal and I have two daughters who are proud graduates of NEISD. As a family, we were impressed from the beginning by the strong foundation and education our district provided for our children.  Our oldest daughter, Elisa, a 2014 graduate of Churchill HS and 2018 graduate of Texas A&M College Station, graduated from Stanford Law in May 2021. Our youngest daughter, Carly, a 2019 graduate of Reagan HS, graduated from Texas A&M, College Station in May 2023. Carly is currently in the nursing program at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She will complete her program in August 2024. My husband, Cal, currently serves as one of the assistant principals at LEE HS.

As an educator for 33 years, I believe in building a strong relationship between school and home. We are a team and together, it is our job to develop a plan, which will best meet the needs of each of your children so that they may experience true success and discover their potential as a leader of their future. As our mission states, it is my responsibility to support the creation of a culture which includes high levels of social, emotional, and academic learning for ALL Broncos in a safe and supportive environment. Without a doubt, it is STUDENTS FIRST at Northern Hills ES, and we are ALL IN this TOGETHER!

      Ms. Kristen Rodriguez

      Hello Bronco Families and Community,

It is my pleasure and honor to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal of Northern Hills Elementary.  I am beyond thrilled to serve such an exceptional group of students, staff, and families at NHES and to be part of the NEISD family.

This coming school year, I will be entering my eighth year of education. I went back to school while raising my son and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Associate of Arts in Teaching from Palo Alto College. I then transferred to Texas A&M San Antonio where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in early childhood to 6th grade. I began my teaching career at Harlandale ISD at the same campus where I completed all of my clinical teaching. During my third year of teaching, I was called to servant leadership and earned admission into the Tomorrow’s Leadership Program at Trinity University. While continuing to teach and completing my administrative internship, I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership along with my principal’s certification. The next part of my journey brought me to South San ISD where I was an instructional coach for all contents and was then promoted to the Advanced Academics Coordinator and AVID Director at the district level.

On a more personal note, I have three children, a son and two daughters. All three are students in NEISD and will be products of the district, as am I. I am also a proud first generation college student and a lifelong learner! The privilege of being appointed an assistant principal in NEISD was like coming home for me and I could not be happier to work for such a dedicated, innovative, and dynamic district such as this.

I believe that all children can grow to be successful, lifelong learners. Every student needs an advocate and champion in the classroom and it is my goal to be that person for every single child that is a member of our community. I also believe that parents, staff, and administration on our campus are a team and must work together with one goal at the center of their work: the children’s success. Being an educator and servant leader is a calling for me and I will work tirelessly to ensure your child receives the best education possible and feels safe and secure on our campus.  I am proud to call Northern Hills my home. I look forward to working with you all.  Please contact me with any questions or to discuss how much your child enjoys being a Bronco Leader!  My contact information is krodri10@neisd.net or (210) 407-5223.
