• The Power of Why

  • Why do we have a shared Mission for our PLC? A shared Mission answers the question, “Why do we Exist?” It is the fundamental purpose of our district or school, and helps to establish priorities and guide decisions to ensure that all students learn.
  • Why do we have a shared Vision for our PLC? A shared vision shows where we want to go and what we will be like when we get there. Vision gives shape and direction to the organization’s future.
  • Why do we have shared Values for our PLC? Our shared values provide as with the behaviors we must exhibit in order to achieve our purpose. These clearly stated values guide the work of staff and collaborative teams, and outlines how each person is a vital contributor in the PLC process.
  • Why do we have common Goals for our PLC? A set of common goals will provide us with the information to determine whether or not we are making a difference. Specific Goals and Targeted Timelines help us to close the gap between current reality and what we hope to become.
  • Why should we Collaborate? The fundamental structure of PLCs is the collaborative teams whose members work interdependently to achieve common goals for which they are mutually accountable. It is essential that educators work collaboratively for the success of each student.
