At North East ISD, student health is a priority because healthy students are better learners. Each campus is staffed with a Registered Nurse (RN), and many also have Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Clinic Assistants (CAs) who work under the supervision of the RN. Together, our health services team creates safe, supportive environments where students can learn and thrive.

The School Nurse:

  • Creates Healthy School Environments by serving as a child’s advocate, monitoring immunizations, assessing growth and development, and preventing the spread of communicable diseases.
  • Provides Direct Health Services as a first responder—conducting health screenings, administering specialized care, and identifying concerns that may require medical referral.
  • Promotes Student Health and Learning through classroom instruction on health topics, participation on special education teams, and partnerships with families, physicians, and community agencies.

Through these efforts, NEISD nurses not only respond to immediate health needs but also equip students with knowledge and habits that support lifelong wellness.

State law provides that a parent has the right to be notified of any health-related services offered at their child's campus. Parents may opt-out of, or reject, any such service. These services are listed in the Clinic and Counseling Consent form found in your Family Access Skyward Account. Please review and submit this consent form for your child(ren).

The school clinic is available for assessing students, providing first aid, treating emergencies and responding to student’s health care needs.
