Board Election Information

North East ISD trustees serve four-year terms, and elections are held during even numbered years. Trustees are elected by voters in the single member district (SMD) in which they currently reside.
The North East ISD will hold an election on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Trustee Positions 1, 4, 5 and 6 will be on the ballot to serve a four-year term. Additionally, a special election will be held to fill the vacancy in Single Member District (SMD) 2. Since the vacancy is an un-expired term, Position 2 will be on the ballot again in 2026.
The candidates for each Single Member District are listed below in the order they will appear on the ballot.

The Bexar County Election Administrator determines early voting in person and election day polling locations. That information can be found under the Notices section below in the documents Revised Notice of General Election and Revised Notice of Special Election. Voting information and locations are also available on the Bexar County Elections Department webpage.

Early Vote Period: Monday, April 22, 2024 --Tuesday, April 30, 2024 (closed April 26, 2024)
Election Day Vote Period: Saturday, May 4, 2024 (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
The Secretary of State's office provides important election dates for the May Uniform Election here. The filing period for a place on the General Election ballot for Single Member District (SMD) 1, 4, 5 and 6 was January 17, 2024 -- February 16, 2024 at 5 p.m. Interested candidates were able to pick up an informational packet and file the necessary paperwork on the sixth floor of our District’s main office (8961 Tesoro Dr.). Candidates can also mail, fax or email their applications. More information about the filing process can be found under Notices below. The information is also posted on the bulletin board outside the District's main office.
On January 8, 2024, the Board of Trustees took action to order a special election to fill the vacancy in Single Member District (SMD) 2. Candidate applications for the special election shall be filed on or before 5 p.m. on March 4, 2024, and not earlier than January 8, 2024. Interested candidates were able to pick up an informational packet and file the necessary paperwork on the sixth floor of our District’s main office (8961 Tesoro Dr.). Candidates can also mail, fax or email their applications. More information about the filing process can be found under Notices below. The information is also posted on the bulletin board outside the District's main office.
All campaign/election signage and material restriction, removal, etc., should be in accordance with laws set forth by the Texas Secretary of State and other state agencies, and including, but not limited to the North East Independent School District (NEISD) Administrative Regulation GKD (R).

Please note: On December 13, 2021, the North East ISD Board of Trustees adopted single member district (SMD) maps following Census 2020 for the purpose of electing trustees to the school board. You can learn more about the redistricting process and view the adopted maps here. Please check your single member district information through that link before filing for candidacy or heading to the polls.
