North East Independent School District

Apply to Enroll

North East ISD Offers Open Enrollment Beyond Our Boundaries!

Families who reside outside NEISD boundaries may apply to attend our schools, based on eligibility and available space. Open enrollment provides additional flexibility for families exploring educational options within our district.

Current NEISD Students moving Out of the District

If your student moves outside NEISD boundaries, they may still be able to attend:

During the school year: Your student may remain at their current school through the end of the year.

Over the summer: You may apply for your student to continue attending NEISD for the upcoming school year.

What This Means for Your Family

  • You no longer have to live within NEISD boundaries to attend our schools.
  • Students entering Kindergarten through 12th grade may apply to attend an NEISD school through our application process.
  • Admission is based on available space at each campus and grade level, and therefore is not guaranteed.

PLEASE NOTE: Magnet programs and School Choice require a separate application.

Families Outside NEISD

You can apply for your child to attend an NEISD school—even if you do not live within district boundaries.

Check back for updates or contact us to learn more about future enrollment opportunities.

Key Guidelines

  • Applications are available for Kindergarten–12th grade only
  • Each student must apply separately
  • Applications are required every year to continue enrollment
  • Acceptance depends on:
    • Available space
    • Attendance, discipline, and academic standing
  • Students must:
    • Have at least 90% attendance
    • Be in good academic standing
    • Have no expulsion or DAEP placement
  • Transportation is not provided

How It Works

  1. Submit an application during the application window
  2. Select your preferred school
  3. Applications are reviewed based on available space and processed in the order received
  4. After the processing window concludes, the parent/legal guardian will receive a notification status update via text and email

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

  • Applications are not accepted for Pre-K
  • Each student requires a separate application
  • Applications must be submitted online
  • All students must reapply each year to continue enrollment
  • Magnet school programs have separate application processes
  • Applications are processed in the order they are received, and approval depends on available space at the selected school and grade level.

Have your student’s information ready:

  • Birth Certificate or Equivalent: A certified copy of the student’s birth certificate is required. Alternatively, a valid passport or a vital statistics document is acceptable.
  • Immunization Records: Acceptable documents include a current up-to-date immunization record or records for exemption from immunization for reasons of conscience. For detailed requirements, please visit NEISD Health Services Immunization Requirements.
  • Parent/Guardian Identification: To ensure a secure enrollment process, we'll need a government-issued ID  from a parent or guardian.
  • Proof of Residence:
    • To confirm your local address, homeowners must provide a recent utility bill (full page copy of water, gas, or electric).
    • Renters should present a current signed lease agreement with the parent or guardian listed as the leaseholder or occupant.
    • For unique living situations, an 'Establishing Proof of Residency' form must be completed by the parent or guardian and homeowner or leaseholder.
    • Military families must provide a copy of military orders requiring transfer to a military installation in or near the district’s attendance zone. Proof of residence must be provided within 90 days of the arrival date.
    • Please note that no subleasing or room rentals are permitted.
