Assistive Technology
Assistive technology (AT) supports students with disabilities with helpful tools and ways to make learning more independent and meaningful. These tools can be simple, easy-to-use items or more advanced technology used throughout the school day. AT can help students join classroom activities, communicate, complete their work, and show what they know. When AT is combined with the right instruction and support, it helps each student feel more confident, take part in learning, and reach their goals.
Assistive Technology in Inclusive Education ensures that different learners with unique needs receive equal opportunities to thrive. To support this vision, NEISD has a dedicated AT team that provides students and staff with a wide range of tools, materials, and resources—ranging from communication and writing aids to accessibility features, time management solutions, and learning strategies.
