Co-Teaching
Program Coordinator: Dana Carroll
Students don't simply receive Special Education services.
They receive instruction, support, access, and opportunities to grow.
Access • Instruction • Collaboration • Growth
Co-Teaching with Modifications
Co-Teaching with Modifications provides students with special education support within the general education classroom. A certified general education teacher and a certified special education teacher work together to provide instruction and support based on each student’s individual needs.
This service is designed for students who need changes to grade-level learning expectations and additional academic support. Having two teachers in the classroom allows students to receive more individualized attention and support during instruction.
Together, the teachers may:
- Adjust assignments and assessments to match the student’s learning needs
- Provide accommodations that help the student access classroom instruction
- Provide direct instruction and additional support in small groups
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Help students develop organization, focus, and other skills needed for learning
- Encourage students to become more independent
- Support students in learning alongside their general education peers
