Can I apply to any school?

Yes. You may apply for any NEISD school. Approval depends on available space at the campus and grade level. Applications are processed in the order they are received.

Will my application be automatically approved?

No. All applications are reviewed each year and must meet eligibility criteria.

If we move over the summer, can my child stay at their school?

Possibly. You may apply for your student to continue attending NEISD, and eligibility will be reviewed as part of the application process.

If my child is already attending through this process, do I need to apply again?

Yes. All students must reapply each year. Students in good standing may continue at their approved school if accepted.

Where do I get an application for Interdistrict Transfer?

The application can be found here. Computers are available at all schools for those who do not have access from home or a cellphone.

When can I apply for Interdistrict Transfer?

Applications are accepted during a designated application window each year. Specific dates are announced annually. You can find the next window dates here.

Can I apply for Magnet or Specialized Programs through this process?

No. Magnet schools and specialized programs (such as GT or Dual Language) have separate application and eligibility processes.

If I have a student going into Pre-K next school year, can I apply for Interdistrict Transfer?

No, applications are only accepted for students entering into grades Kinder through 12th in the upcoming school year. 

If I have more than one child, may I use the same application?

No, you must fill out an Interdistrict Transfer application for each child. You may apply for any NEISD school. The granting of requests depends on available space at the specific school and grade level, with approvals processed in the order they are received.
