North East Independent School District

Thank you for your interest in the Volunteer Program at NEISD. The District requires that all potential volunteers undergo a background check before volunteering.

  1. Please fill out the Online Background Check Form below with your vaild information.
  2. Once your application has been processed and you receive an email confirmation, please contact the volunteering school for possible assignments.

Adult Volunteer Hours

North East ISD uses Raptor Technologies for recording volunteer hours. When you are volunteering on campus, you must sign-in and sign-out at the front office through the Raptor process. When checking in for your volunteer assignment, be sure you are signed in as a volunteer, to ensure your volunteer hours are recorded. Volunteers who complete any hours before and after school or while off campus may log in to their Raptor Portal to log hours. The Volunteer Program office does not log hours for volunteers. Volunteers may click on the orange Raptor Volunteer Portal tab to log in.

The volunteer school year starts July 1 and ends on June 30. The deadline to submit hours in your volunteer portal is June 30. For any questions, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator.

Your Volunteer Portal Account

Register to become a volunteer by completing the background check form using a valid email address.
Once you have been approved, you will receive an email invite to create your volunteer portal account.
This process will take less than 5-7 business days.
To get your status or identification number, contact your school office or online.

Volunteer Code of Conduct

As a Volunteer, I agree to abide by the following Code of Conduct:

  • I will sign in at the designated sign in station and sign out when my duties are complete.

  • I will wear a volunteer name badge or identification provided by the school each time I visit. I will remain at my volunteer station/assignment for the duration of my volunteer shift.

  • I will dress appropriately for my volunteer assignment and will act in a professional manner at all times toward staff and other volunteers.

  • I will maintain confidentiality outside of school and will share with teachers and/or school administrators any concerns that I may have related to student welfare and/or safety.

  • Whenever possible I will abide by the “three person rule.” I understand that whenever possible a child is not to be left alone with an employee, volunteer or other district representative, unless a 3rd party present. Programs involving spending one on one time with a student will be done in a supervised setting.

  • I will not disclose, use or disseminate student photographs or personal information regarding students to anyone.

  • I agree to not transport students. Volunteers are not authorized to transport students, staff or other volunteers unless given special authorization through the Risk Management Department.

  • I agree not to smoke on the grounds of any NEISD Property.

  • I will not have contact with students outside of school hours without the knowledge and/or consent of the student’s parents.

  • I understand that the Volunteer Program will resubmit my criminal history record check every two years.

Failure to uphold any guideline or standard may result in dismissal from the NEISD Volunteer Program and may result in Criminal Prosecution.

Liabilities & Injuries

What are my liabilities as a volunteer?

A volunteer who is serving as a direct service volunteer in the District is immune from civil liability to the same extent as a District employee under Education Code 22.0511. However, this section of law does not limit the liability of a person for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.

What if I get injured while volunteering?

None of our volunteer assignments should pose any danger to our volunteers, but sometimes accidents do occur. If you do think a volunteer assignment is not safe, DO NOT complete the assignment. You should notify a campus administrator or the District Volunteer Coordinator at 407-0309. If you are injured and need medical assistance, during school hours contact the campus clinic. If the injury occurs after regular school hours, please contact the North East ISD Police Department at 655-6959. In case of a serious injury, call 911 to request EMS assistance. As soon as possible after the event, please contact the campus principal to report the incident.

In accordance with the Texas Tort Claims Act, the District cannot be responsible for costs of treating injuries or assume liability for any other costs associated with an injury at school or any school related function unless the personal injury is caused by a district employee's negligent operation of a motor vehicle while performing district duties, in which case the District would need to investigate prior to assuming any responsibility for costs.
