Thank you to my Dance Director

Good Afternoon Mrs. Alanis,

I hope this email finds you well and I apologize for this not coming sooner!

I was one of your Dixie Drillers, class of 2016.

I am now 23 years old and recently just graduated from UTSA with my degree in public health with two minors in business administration and sociology. I am currently receiving my masters in business also at UTSA.

I graduated about 5 years ago now, but I am constantly still quoting you & living by the example you had set for us all those years ago. Being one of your students was something that I will never forget and will always be grateful for. I honestly wish I took in the moment even more so when I look back. You were my dance director, but you taught me so much more than that.

I am reaching out today to simply let you know how grateful I am to have been taught by you. You have made such an impact on my life still to this day and I thank you for everything. Every single burpee, every single “let’s run it just one more time”, every practice, every lecture, I thank you Mrs. Alanis. It’s actually quite hilarious because I now understand the importance of “ no negative sound effects ” . I am constantly getting on to my partner because Mrs. Alanis would not have allowed us to “ Sigh or Ugh” when things got hard. I have implemented positive affirmations, meditation, taking care of my health, stretching, and overall being kind to myself into my daily routine. The discipline is something I believe every child needs. It’s amazing how the older you get the more you understand why people do what they do, they do it with PURPOSE.

I hope you and your family are in good health & good spirits! GOODLUCK to your new teams this year! I also heard you received your new dance studio? MUCH DESERVED AND WELL OVERDUE! I have also attached two photos from then and now that I wanted to share with you.

Respectfully,

 Former LEE Spirit Member
