Comprehensive School Counseling Program
North East ISD’s Comprehensive School Counseling Program ensures that every student has access to guidance, support, and resources that promote academic success, healthy relationships, and future planning.
Our counseling program follows a structured framework designed to support students in four key areas: guidance lessons, individual planning, responsive services, and system support.
Guidance Curriculum
School counselors provide classroom lessons that help students develop essential life skills, emotional awareness, and responsible decision-making.
Guidance lessons may include topics such as:
- Healthy coping strategies and mental health awareness
- Building healthy friendships and relationships
- Bullying prevention and conflict resolution
- Cyberbullying and online safety
- Responsible social media use
- Making healthy life choices
These lessons help students build the skills needed to succeed both in school and in everyday life.
Individual Student Planning
Counselors work with students to help them set goals and plan their future. Through individual planning, students receive guidance in areas such as:
- Academic goal setting
- Course planning and graduation requirements
- College and career exploration
- Personal development planning
This process helps students make informed decisions about their education and future pathways.
Responsive Counseling Services
Sometimes students face challenges that require immediate support. School counselors provide responsive services to assist students during difficult situations.
These services may include:
- Individual counseling
- Small group counseling
- Crisis response and intervention
- Parent and family conferences
- Referrals to community resources
Responsive services ensure students receive the help they need when challenges arise.
System Support
School counselors collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment for students.
System support activities include:
- Coordinating campus support programs
- Connecting families with community resources
- Supporting schoolwide student wellness initiatives
- Collaborating with teachers and administrators to support student success
Through this coordinated effort, NEISD counselors help ensure students have access to the resources and support systems they need.
