Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free.™

Each year, North East ISD joins schools across the nation in celebrating Red Ribbon Week, the largest drug prevention campaign in the United States. This week serves as a reminder of our commitment to making healthy choices, building positive relationships, and living drug-free lives.

Throughout the week, campuses across the District will host spirit days, classroom lessons, and activities designed to educate students about the importance of living drug free and empower them to make positive decisions for their future.

Why We Celebrate

Red Ribbon Week began in honor of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who lost his life while fighting to keep communities safe from drugs. His legacy lives on through this nationwide movement, inspiring students and families to stand for a drug-free lifestyle.

How to Participate

  • Wear Red: Show your support for living drug free by wearing red on Monday, October 27.
  • Join the Theme Days: Campuses will share daily themes and dress-up days to keep the message fun and engaging.
  • Take the Pledge: Students, families, and staff can take the Drug-Free Pledge to make a personal commitment to healthy choices.
  • Talk Together: Parents and guardians are encouraged to use this week as an opportunity to start conversations about making safe, smart decisions.
