2010 QSC Bond Roofing Program

The 2010 Qualified School Construction Bond Roofing Program addressed the Re-Roofing and Roof-Related Work at Hidden Forest ES, Larkspur ES, Northwood ES, Olmos ES, Redland Oaks ES, Bradley MS, Driscoll MS, Nimitz MS, North East Community Learning Center, and Food Service Warehouse

2010 QSCB Project Facility Maintenance Classroom and Support Areas Floor Covering and IAQ Improvement

Project Details

Introduction: To improve indoor air quality District-wide, the QSCB Facility Renovations/Upgrades Program was designed to replace all classroom carpet with vinyl composition tile (VCT), and replace deteriorated administrative, counseling, and library carpet with new carpet manufactured with welded seams, an impermeable backing, and a Green Label Plus certification which provides for low airborne contaminants, reduced chemical emissions, and a healthier indoor environment. The QSCB Facility Renovations and Upgrades Program addressed carpet issues at 62 elementary and secondary school campuses.

Phase I

The Phase I project addressed flooring issues at eleven (11) campuses including: Bulverde Creek, El Dorado, Hardy Oak, Hidden Forest, Huebner, Longs Creek, Olmos, Roan Forest, Steubing Ranch, Stone Oak and Wetmore Elementary Schools.

2010 QSCB Project: Facility Maintenance HVAC Controls Upgrades

 

To improve Facility HVAC Controls operations within the District, the QSCB Program included funding to upgrade Energy Management Control Systems at eight campus facilities including: Dellview, Jackson-Keller, Montgomery, Serna, Wilshire, and Woodstone Elementary Schools; Bush Middle School; and the Roosevelt High School DATA Facility.

2010 QSCB Project Facility Maintenance Chiller and Boiler Replacement

Project Details

Introduction: To improve central energy plant operations, the QSCB Chiller and Boiler Replacement Program provided new energy-efficient equipment at 29 elementary and secondary campuses, replacing either air-cooled chillers or gas-fired boilers, or a combination of both systems.

Planning Estimate1: $6,570,000

Phase I

The Chiller and Boiler Replacement Project Phase I provided replacement chillers at five elementary school campuses including: Coker, Dellview, Walzem, Stahl, and East Terrell Hills Elementary Schools. The life expectancy of these central plant systems is typically 12-15 years for an air-cooled chiller and 25–30 years for a gas-fired boiler. Additionally, chiller/water pumps, filter feeders, expansion tanks, and central plant indoor and outdoor lighting will be incorporated into this project to improve the overall efficiency, performance, and operation of the central plants. Phase I was paid with 2007 Bond Funds.

Additionally, chiller/water pumps, filter feeders, expansion tanks, and central plant indoor and outdoor lighting were incorporated into this project to improve the overall efficiency, performance, and operation of the central plants.

2010 QSCB Project: Facility Maintenance Stage Lighting System Upgrades

Facility Maintenance Stage Lighting System Upgrades Project upgraded 11 District campuses including: Churchill, Johnson, Lee, Madison, MacArthur, Reagan, and Roosevelt High Schools; and Driscoll, Krueger, Nimitz, and Wood Middle Schools. Each District high school was retrofitted with new LED stage light fixtures. These new LED fixtures improve the quality and flexibility of the theatrical lighting systems at each of the District’s high school auditoriums, while achieving savings in energy costs and bulb replacement maintenance. A portion of the traditional stage lighting systems (replaced by the LED lights) removed at each high school campus was repurposed to selected middle school auditoriums. Additionally, at each of the selected middle schools, obsolete dimmer racks were replaced, additional dimmer circuits were provided, existing electrical infrastructure were upgraded, additional secondary battens were installed, and new lighting control consoles were provided.
