Announcements
Only two weeks until the Winter Break and the end of the semester. Students and their parents need to work hard from now until December 18 to get their grades as high as possible.
Recruiting opportunities
Our Final Virtual Magnet Night will be held on December 15 at 6:00 pm. Please encourage anyone interested in the KSAT program to attend this virtual meeting.
An on-campus KSAT OPEN HOUSE is scheduled for January 20, 2021 AT KREUGER - 438 Lanark San Antonio, TX 78218. This event is from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Note for 8th grade students: It is time to start deciding your high school choice. Current KSAT 8th grade students will receive automatic admission into ETA. More information will be sent to you so you can reserve your seat at ETA. Look for an email from Mr. Lozano. I will also send the information to you. If you do not receive these email, please reach out to Mr. Lozano (rlozan1@neisd.net ) and he will send you the letter directly.
You can get some additional information at the ETA Virtual Open House. More information about this event can be found at the link below which takes you to a smore titled "KSAT Class of 2025: Join Us At Our ETA Virtual Open House".

COMMUNICATION
As I have stated in past blogs, communication is a key to ensuring success in these different times. The news has reported a number of problems students and families are experiencing this year. We have invited those students who are struggling with virtual learning to return to campus for In-person instruction. We have a credit protection plan for those who return to campus and are still struggling. Check parent portal frequently. If you have questions about grades, email the teachers and they will answer your questions as soon as they can. Also, contact the teachers if you are having technical issues.
In our technological world, we communicate frequently through email or phone. Please access your parent portal account to verify phone numbers and email so you will receive all our communications.
Reminder about UNIFORMS: KMS is a uniformed campus. All students who are on campus are expected to be in uniform polo shirts or SPIRIT SHIRTS with khakis or jeans.
Clarification about face coverings:
Over the Thanksgiving Break, modified face covering guidelines were issued by the district. Here is the guidance:
Face coverings help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by reducing droplets if the face covering is worn securely over the nose and mouth. According to the CDC, cloth face coverings offer some protection to you and are also meant to protect those around you in case you are infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 and don’t have any symptoms. Certain types of face coverings are more effective than others. Beginning November 30, 2020, masks with valves will not be permitted for students or employees. Gaiters and bandanas will only be permitted for outdoor use.
TRANSPORTATION
The Shuttle Bus schedule is posted (see the link below). Students who have failing averages need to stay until 3:30 to attend tutoring so they can improve their grades. Please make sure your child knows if they are leaving at 1:50 or 3:30 each day. If there is a change from their normal departure time, please email my office or the teachers to inform us of the change. When a student is staying until 3:30, they need to confirm with a KSAT teacher where the tutoring group will meet each day since the location rotates each day.
Reminder: if your child rides the bus at 1:50, please make sure there is someone at the home campuses to pick the students at the scheduled time.
Magnet Shuttle Schedule- The schedule was revised for a couple of buses- 282, 123, 293. If your child rides one of those buses, they should have received a letter from transportation- If not, here is the link to see the schedule.

Final Thoughts
The fall semester is quickly coming to an end. For some students, the best place for them to learn may be back on campus. Call my office if you would like your child to return. We have some returning on Monday December 7. We can add any student who needs to return.
We have some recruiting events scheduled before the February 12 application deadline. Check the website (www.neisd.net/ksat ) for those opportunities. During recruiting this season, it is more critical than ever to have parents and students share their experiences in the KSAT program. Please encourage interested families that you know to apply. More information about the magnet programs and the online application can be found at https://www.neisd.net/magnetprograms. They can always contact us directly at 210-356-4706.
Have a great week.
