Who gets screened?

All 7^th grade, 8^th grade boys and all new students to the district

What are they screening for?

7th grade girls: Hearing, vision, acanthosis & spinal

7^th grade boys: Hearing, vision & acanthosis

8^th grade boys: Spinal

New students: all 😊

This year we will be doing the bulk of these screenings in the fall but new students and other students may be screened as needed. Please remember to bring in glasses or wear contacts on these days!

-If you have any objection to your student being screened, please submit it in writing to the clinic via note, email (jaguil7@neisd.net), or fax (210-657-8895).

Spinal screening notice:

-Please note the following excerpt: “To properly screen for spinal abnormalities, all students must remove their shirt for this exam. This allows the school nurse to better visualize the spine. For this reason females are requested to wear a halter/sport/tube top or a swim suit top underneath their shirt on exam day.” For this reason females will be screened by a female nurse.
-Please let the clinic know if your student has already been seen by a doctor for any spinal condition. We will not screen your student if you and a doctor are already observing or treating a condition.
