North East ISD is expanding its mental health services thanks to a grant worth $2.6 million.
Bexar County Commissioners approved the funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). These are federal pandemic-recovery funds meant to bolster existing mental health programs and help start new ones.
The grant funds will be used to increase access to mental health professionals for students and families. That includes hiring social workers and support staff and contracting with a local vendor to provide additional licensed mental health professionals.

Remember, students already have access to their Certified School Counselor and Student Well Being/Mental Wellness Counselors. These certified counselors offer one-on-one counseling and opportunities to work in small groups to address student needs.
NEISD also partners with UT Health to offer students services through Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT). TCHATT offers mental health evaluations and short-term counseling.For more information on programs offered to students, visit neisd.net/student-leadership.
