Recently, students at Churchill High School noticed red sand in the breaks in the sidewalk in the breezeway in the middle of campus. Then, they started seeing messages popping up written in sidewalk chalk. Messages like: stay safe, watch your surroundings and know who to trust.
The red sand represents the 25 million victims of human trafficking; victims often referred to as people who fall through the cracks. The Churchill Parliament created the awareness campaign.
“We want students to be aware of what’s going on,” said Parliament’s Head of Community Service, Drew Sharpstene. “This serves as a good reminder to stay safe and use precautions. It also reminds us to use the great resources of counselors that NEISD provides for us. We have such a great support network here.”
The Parliament students know it takes all of us to be #NEISDsafe.
