Twice a week, a group of parents, grandparents and community members meet at Olmos Elementary School. They bring breakfast and spend time together all while learning how to sew.
This Sewing Class at Olmos is one of our free Family Engagement courses. These ladies started as beginners and are now confidently using a sewing machine to craft aprons, potholders, curtains and more. They’re stitching together more than fabric. There’s a true sense of community when they get together. That’s the goal of our Family Engagement team – to create and sustain partnerships with our families and community.
If you are looking to learn a new skill or get involved in your child’s education, I want to encourage you to sign up for our free Family Engagement Training workshop. There’s still time to register online or in-person on Friday, February 28th. Visit the Family Engagement webpage to learn more about the many classes available to you. All parents, grandparents, guardians and community members are welcome to sign up. Again, there is no cost to attend.

Dos veces a la semana, un grupo de padres, abuelos y miembros de la comunidad se reúnen en la Escuela Primaria Olmos. Traen desayuno y pasan tiempo juntos mientras aprenden a coser.
Esta clase de costura en Olmos es uno de nuestros cursos gratuitos de participación familiar. Estas damas comenzaron como principiantes y ahora usan con mucha confianza la máquina de coser para crear delantales, agarraderas, cortinas y más. Están cosiendo mucho más que tela. Cuando ellas se reúnen se siente un verdadero sentido de comunidad. Ese es el objetivo de nuestro equipo de Participación Familiar: crear y mantener colaboraciones con nuestras familias y nuestra comunidad.
Si está buscando aprender una nueva habilidad o involucrarse en la educación de su hijo, quiero animarlo a inscribirse en nuestro taller gratuito de capacitación en participación familiar. Todavía está a tiempo de registrarse en línea o en persona el viernes 28 de febrero.
