Meet these essential NEISD workers
POSTED OCTOBER 2023
Accounts Payable Week is celebrated during the second week of October throughout the United States and Canada. The Accounts Payable team at North East ISD has been working hard all year, and now is the perfect time to recognize their accomplishments.
Processing Invoices and cutting checks is what may come to mind when you think of Accounts Payable, but there is more happening behind the scenes. The heart of our team consists of four Accounts Payable Specialists and one Accounting Compliance Technician who have a combined 69 years of service to NEISD and processed more than 28,000 invoices totaling $126 million during the 2022-2023 School year.
Let’s get to know who they are!
Lori Garrison has been a NEISD Accounts Payable Specialist for 25 years! In addition to spending time with her family and husband of 39 years, Lori enjoys playing canasta and gin and is an awesome cook and baker.
Hilary Hutto Diaz started in 2015 with NEISD as an Accounts Payable Specialist. Like many of us, faith and family are important to Hilary. Fun fact – she has been a vegetarian for the past 10 years. She enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, the great outdoors and looks forward to retiring on the beach one day!
Sandra Calvo has been with NEISD for 17 years starting at Wood Middle School and coming to Accounts Payable in 2020. She enjoys family time, reading and watching her favorite TV shows.
Melanie Mayfield began her career with NEISD in 2015 as a substitute. She then became a full-time employee working at Ridgeview Elementary School, Krueger Middle School and Eisenhower Middle School before coming to Accounts Payable in April 2023. She’s been married to her husband for 37 years and has two children who courageously serve in the military. She enjoys going to the movies (especially the popcorn), baking, visiting the coast, and relaxing on her back porch watching the wildlife stroll through.
Lisa Garcia has been with NEISD for 11 years starting at Wood Middle School before transitioning to Curriculum and Instruction. She is the newest member of Accounts Payable and joined the team in July 2023. She has two beautiful daughters, two fur babies and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
One might think these ladies just enter invoices throughout the day, but their duties include so much more. They troubleshoot issues that prevent us from paying invoices, set up new vendors in our financial system and reimburse our employees for travel expenses. Most importantly, they ensure we maintain good relationships with our vendors by paying them accurately and timely. So, the next time you talk to one of these wonderful ladies, tell them how much they are appreciated and valued here at NEISD.
