Checkouts, Holds, & Overdues

CHECKOUTS for PRINT MATERIALS:

Students may check out up to THREE printed materials at a time for a three-week period. 

Due to popularity and availability, students are allowed to check out 1 current Lone Star title at a time and no more than 2 graphic novels/manga at one time.

Students may renew an item or items before or on the due date if they need more time. Books that are currently on hold for another patron may not be available to renew.

To renew a book online, students can log into the online library catalog with their NEISD credentials, go to their profile, and look at their current checkouts. If the book is not overdue, they can renew it online inside the catalog.

CHECKOUTS for DIGITAL MATERIALS:

Students may also borrow & download eBooks and audiobooks from Sora, NEISD's digital library platform. Students may check out up to FIVE eBooks/audio books using the Sora app for a three-week period.

Students can access Sora through Lauchpad or download the app and log in using their NEISD credentials.

All items borrowed through Sora will automatically disappear from your device when they are due.

How to Find Out What Books are Currently Checked Out

HOLDS:

If there is a hold/request for an item currently checked out, students may not be able to renew that item. Library staff will decide renewals on a case-by-case basis to provide fair access to materials for all students and faculty.

If a student has an overdue item and has also placed a hold, they may be bumped to the end of the waiting list for any holds until all overdue materials are returned and any fines cleared.

OVERDUE BOOKS & LOST LIBRARY ITEMS POLICY

The Tex Hill Library does not charge fines for overdue books.

However, when a student has an overdue item on their record, they may not check out another item until that overdue item is returned. 

It is the responsibility of the student/parent to pay for lost or damaged books. For extenuating circumstances, please speak to Librarian Mrs. Kendall.
