March 20, 2020 Principal's Update

March 20, 2020

Good Evening Royal Ridge Families!!!

I certainly hope everyone is home safe and sound.  I have a great deal of information to present to you, so please take a seat and read carefully.  :-)

Teachers have already been in contact with many students, checking in and setting up distance learning.  They have also prepared hard copy packets of work for those not able to access the distance learning.  The office staff will be ready and waiting on Monday morning for work distribution.  Those families requesting a work packet may come to the campus and utilize our "drive through" system to gather work.  Mr. Ramirez will greet you, and direct you to a station, where you will collect the work for your students.  We will be open from 7:30-9:30 Monday morning.  Please call the school if you have any questions.

If your students are participating in "distance learning", you will be receiving notifications from the teachers soon.  As I have already stated, many have already set up Seesaw or Google Classrooms!

Here is a message from our Technology Teacher, Ms. Meyer:  Hello Parents!  Did you miss last night’s webinars? Well, have no fear, TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. we will be hosting another Zoom Webinar to help your child get connected to Launchpad, Seesaw and Google Classroom. Join us online TONIGHT by using this link:  https://neisd.zoom.us/j/7051251543 An NEISD Instructional Technology Specialist will help with real time troubleshooting and answer any questions you may have.

Here is a message from school nutritional services:  The NEISD School Nutrition and Transportation departments are working together to initiate a meal delivery program next week at specific bus stops.  This program will help provide meals to students that do not have access to the 32 curbside meal sites.  This will only be available in the LEE, MacArthur, Churchill, Roosevelt, and Madison clusters.

Each meal delivery site will have a scheduled time and the bus will not be able to vary from this schedule.  The bus will offer one breakfast and lunch option each day to all children 18 and under that are present at the stop.  The lunch is intended to be eaten that day and the breakfast can be saved for the next morning.

Here is a message from our librarian, Mrs. Crumrine:  Parents, please do not worry about returning school library books at this time.  We have had a few inquiries, and we want to assure you that your health and welfare comes first.  We will provide additional information when we resume school.

Here is a message from our school nurse, Mrs. Peth:  I would like to let you know I will be available on Monday, March 23 from 12:00-4:00 and again on Thursday, March 26 from 8:00-12:00  for curbside pick-up of medications/supplies at our campus. Please call me to reserve a time for pick up and for any questions. Thank you!

Finally, I want to let you know that the staff at Royal Ridge are eager to resume our normal course of school, but we are also committed to making the best of our current situation.  Thank  you for your support, and please do not hesitate to call with questions.  I know you are probably overwhelmed with all of the information coming your way, and also with how quickly things are changing.  Take care of yourselves and your families.

Royal RIdge Patriot Pride is alive and well in San Antonio!

Warmly,

Mrs. Carter-Freeman
