SURPRISE!

Nathan being surprised at Windcrest

Windcrest Elementary School is home to Nathan Smith.

“I always knew I wanted to come back here. I love this campus. It feels like home.”

The former student is now a senior in college, just a few months shy of graduation. He’s conducting his student teaching at Windcrest and now he’s officially signed on to come back next year as a teacher.

Nathan was surprised with a job offer in class today by Principal Hope Delemos and America Gonzalez-Rosas, Human Resources Director of New Talent & Evaluation.

He said yes! Nathan with Christy Berry

Nathan has loved every minute back at Windcrest and he can’t wait to officially start his career in the classroom. One of the highlights has been working alongside his former kindergarten teacher, Christy Berry.

“When I was a kid, I fell in love with the teachers and the community. Mrs. Berry was so caring and loving. And it really made me want to be the same kind of teacher.”

His former teacher has no doubt he’ll carry on her legacy of caring and loving Windcrest’s students.

“I loved him the day he walked in. He’s got the heart for the kids. He’s going to do well here.”

Welcome home, Nathan!
