Several stand-out students were recognized at the regular meeting of the North East ISD Board of Trustees on Monday, March 6.
Eisenhower students lead invocation and pledge
Eisenhower Middle School eighth graders Morgan Mowrey and Grant Reich gave the invocation and pledge of allegiance. Principal Jason Herrera was on hand to introduce them.
Morgan excels as a leader in and out of the classroom. She played every sport this year and also serves on the Yearbook Committee and the Mayor’s Fitness Council. She also loves spending her time mentoring other students in the PALS program. Morgan was joined by parents, Kara and Chad Mowrey.
Grant maintains an A average while excelling on the Generals football and track teams. When he is not working hard on his academics or athletics, he can be found donating his time helping with community service projects, like campus beautification days where he helps clean up and maintain several of the campuses in the Churchill cluster. Grant was joined by his parents, Janie and Scott Reich.
Recent state medalists recognized
Multiple state medalists were recognized by our Board of Trustees on Monday night.
Madison High School junior Chloe Overgaag was celebrated for her 3rd state finish at the UIL State Wrestling Tournament.
Johnson High School senior and new state champion Jada Scott was recognized for her 1st place finishes in the Girls 100 Breaststroke and the Girls 50 Freestyle.
New state champion Montserrat Spielmann was also recognized. The Reagan High School sophomore finished 1st in the Girls 100 Butterfly and 3rd in the Girls 200 Freestyle.
Churchill High School junior Carli Cronk finished 2nd in the Girls 200 Freestyle.

Opioid overdose treatment coming to NEISD
The NEISD Board of Trustees also voted to authorize that medication reversing the effects of a fentanyl or opioid-related drug overdose, commonly known as Narcan or Naloxone, be made available at every campus. Click here to read more about that decision.
