North East ISD students rolled up their sleeves and got to work during their annual partnership with Habitat for Humanity. This is the 17th year that students from the Career and Technical Education Center’s Electrical Systems Technology (EST) Technical Apprentice Program worked on new homes going up in a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood in San Antonio.
Under the guidance of their instructors and mentors, our electrical students successfully installed wiring in four of the homes.
“It’s always a highlight for them to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to a meaningful, real-world project,” said Electrical Teacher Victor Casares. “This experience goes beyond technical skills, fostering a deep sense of community, teamwork, and social responsibility among our students.”
Projects like these also help our students understand the importance of precision, safety, and collaboration – which are essential qualities for any aspiring electrician.
Students from our MacUNITED Early College High School also volunteered for a good cause at the Habitat for Humanity site. They planted trees and assisted with yard work to help beautify these homes for their incoming families.
