Emergency Response Team bolsters school safety
North East ISD continues to prioritize and bolster school safety and security with the addition of a new Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Each member of this eight-person team is trained and equipped to handle emergency situations should they occur at any of our schools or facilities. Multiple ERT team members have military backgrounds, while another brings valuable prior SWAT experience.
The responsibilities of the ERT team exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement first responders. If there is a life-threatening incident, they will rapidly deploy to contain, control and neutralize any threat to the safety and welfare of our students, staff and visitors.
“North East ISD wants to be the best district at the prevention of school violence, but is also committed to implementing additional layers of security,” said Dr. Sean Maika, NEISD Superintendent of Schools.
Our new ERT will begin supporting our schools and community beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
