Dear ISA Families,

Yesterday, the LEE Student Council presented Romance in the City! Juniors and Seniors and their guests celebrated at the Red Oak Ballroom. It is wonderful to see students outside of the hallways having fun with friends dancing, laughing, and making memories. Thank you to members of LEE Student Council, campus administrators, and teachers who set up, cleaned up, and chaperoned the prom this year!

On Monday, April 8, 2024, our campus is expected to be in the path of this year's total eclipse of the sun! Tomorrow during lunch, ISA teachers will join our students to view this unique astronomical event! Each student and staff member will receive a viewer for the experience. We can’t wait for tomorrow and hope that the rain stays away!

Tuesday, April 9th, officially begins standardized testing season at ISA! On Tuesday and Thursday, ISA 9th and 10th graders will sit for STAAR EOCs for English I and English II. We want to encourage our 9th and 10th graders to get a good night’s sleep, eat breakfast, and arrive at school on time for the STAAR. Below is the whole STAAR schedule:

• Tuesday, April 9th - 9th grade ELA I

• Thursday, April 11th - 10th grade ELA II

• Tuesday, April 16th - 9th grade Biology

• Thursday, April 18th - 11th grade U.S. History

• Tuesday, April 23rd - 9th grade Algebra I

While the deadline for CIEE summer travel experiences has passed, we will have a special visitor on campus on Wednesday, April 10th! CIEE is recruiting families interested in hosting international students participating in exchange experiences to Texas for the 2024-2025 school year! CIEE’s San Antonio Area exchange recruiting will visit during lunch on Wednesday. If your family might be interested in hosting a student for a longer exchange as part of CIEE this will be a great time to get more information!

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the ISA Amigos will hold their monthly board meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the ISA Flex Space (S-103). Join us to discuss upcoming board nominations and elections to positions for the 2024-2025 school year! Please park in the visitor parking lot in front of the LEE HS Main Building. All are welcome!

Following the ISA Amigos meeting on Thursday, Globies past and present will gather to  brainstorm ways to celebrate ISA’s 30th year! We would love your creative input. Join the group in-person or virtually HERE at 7:00 p.m. in the ISA Flex Space (S-103)!

On Friday, April 12, 2024, ISA will participate in our annual day of service. Fondly known as Globie Youth Service Day, ISA students and teachers will work through their advisories to complete service projects across San Antonio. Students received a permission slip to attend their advisory’s project on March 28th. Please ask your student about their permission slip so it can be completed and returned to their advisory teacher early this week. As a whole school since 2014, ISA students have rolled up their sleeves in service to the San Antonio Community, building connections within our student body by Taking Action together affecting positive change in San Antonio!

Looking ahead, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, ISA’s Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) will induct their newest members in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). New NHS Inductees are asked to arrive at the PAC by 6:00 p.m. and the induction ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. NHS members standout and exemplify the pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character in the ISA Community. Congratulations to our newest NHS members!

On April 25th, ISA’s PALS  will induct their newest members in the PERC at 6:00 p.m. Our PALS attend training in mediation and mentoring skills to pursue this work and serve as a model of leadership and service in the ISA Community. Congratulations to our newest PALS!

The schedule for second semester exams has also been published. As you begin planning end of year calendars, here are the details:

Senior Exams begin Friday, May 17th:

• Friday, May 17, 2024 - Periods 4 and 7

• Monday, May 20, 2024 - Periods 3 and 5

• Tuesday, May 21, 2024 - Periods 2 and 6

• Wednesday, May 22, 2024 - Periods 1 and 8 (Last day for senior exams and Last day for seniors)
  
  

9th - 11th grade Exams begin Tuesday, May 28:

• Tuesday, May 28, 2024 - Periods 4 and 6 (Graduation Day for ISA seniors!) 

• Wednesday, May 29, 2024 - Periods 2 and 5 

• *Thursday, May 30, 2024 - Periods 1 and 7 

• *Friday, May 31, 2024 - Periods 3 and 8 (Last day for grades 9-11)

*School will dismiss at 2:00 p.m.

Finally, Friday, April 5, 2024, marked the end of the first three-weeks of the final grading quarter for the 2024-2025 school year! Progress reports for this period will be available in Skyward this week!
