Community Update for March 17

Dear ISA Families,

Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a restful break last week!

Monday, March 18th, marks the beginning of the final grading quarter of the 2023-2024 school year! Teachers will finalize grades for the third grading period on Monday and digital report cards will be available in Skyward Family Access this week! Monday also marks the opening day for the ISA Transfer Application! Current 9th and 1oth graders who are interested in transferring as a sophomore or junior for the 2024-2025 school year can complete our online application HERE!

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, all ISA juniors will have the opportunity to take the SAT on-campus during the school day! We are excited our district provides students with this opportunity free of charge! On the morning of the SAT, students should arrive at their testing rooms by 8:40 a.m. Pencils and a calculator will be provided; however, students are welcome to bring their own supplies.

Junior teachers will share testing locations this week! Following the SAT, students will report to and attend their normally scheduled afternoon classes. We also encourage students to get a good night’s rest on Monday and eat breakfast before they arrive on Tuesday morning! Good luck on the SAT, juniors!

Yesterday, ISA students returned from their visit to Frankfurt, Germany, and on Wednesday, March 20th, ISA will welcome 20 students and their teachers from Frankfurt, Germany back to ISA for the first time in three years! We are so excited for this visit and cannot wait to see our friends again and during their entire visit!

Also on Wednesday evening, ISA will honor this year’s summa cum laude graduates at our annual Summa Celebration and Recognition Ceremony. The event begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m. in the PAC foyer followed by our formal recognition ceremony at 7:00 p.m. also in the PAC Auditorium. During this event, ISA seniors from the Class of 2024 have the opportunity to recognize educators who have made an impact on them. We are excited to celebrate our Summa Graduates and the most influential educators in their lives!

The ISA Amigos Project Graduation Committee would also like to invite ISA Senior Families to the Class of 2024 Project Graduation Fundraiser*!

When: March 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Where: Raising Cane’s (8007 Fredericksburg Road, 78229)

Why: Help to raise funds for project graduation AND feed your family after

celebrating ISA Class of 2024 Summa Graduates!

*Don’t forget to say you are with ISA when you place your order!

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, we will host our next ISA Community Night!  ISA 9th graders will take the next steps in realizing their efforts to Make-A-Difference in our community! The MAD Fair will run from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and visitors can expect to see the current plans our 9th grade collaborative student teams have envisioned to support the implementation of their community action projects. From baked goods and succulents, to stickers and puppies visitors can take in our 9th graders’ pitch and donate for change!

Also on Thursday, ISA sophomores will present their Advocacy Fair from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the expanded ISA Flex Spacie (S-102 & S-103). Students will advocate for a people in danger of losing their land, culture, or language, and present an action plan to aid that group. All attendees will receive three (3) tickets to vote for presenters with the best plans. Additional tickets will be available for purchase, and all funds collected from the Advocacy Fair will be donated to support the plan with the most votes. The Sophomore Team would also like to remind ISA sophomores to dress professionally for the Advocacy Fair!

Both of these annual events are open to attendees from our entire community!

Thursday also provides an opportunity for ISA Junior families to look ahead to their senior year! Join LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM College Career and Military Readiness Specialist, Carin Schramm, in the Library MPR for a presentation about the college application process! Stay tuned for a separate communication this week with the precise start time for this presentation.

During Thursday Night’s ISA Community Night, the Amigos will also host this year’s Silent Auction to raise funds benefiting all of our students. Proceeds from the silent auction will serve to advance the ISA Amigos’ mission to support the continued funding of experiences that enrich ISA students’ learning! Bidding will open at 5:00 p.m. and close at 6:30 p.m. Winning bids can be processed between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Among the myriad items up for bid, the Amigos would like to highlight two groups of 4 seat priority seating at this year’s graduation ceremony on May 28, 2024!

The ISA Amigos share that it is not too late to give to the Globie Fund! ISA Families can support the mission of the Amigos Parent Booster organization with a contribution to the ISA 2023 Globie Fund. Donations are available in multiple increments and a donation of any amount is amazing and appreciated!

Looking ahead, we want to highlight two upcoming opportunities for students!

  • Job & Internship Field Trip - FOR SENIORS ONLY - NEISD is hosting a field trip for seniors on April 3, 2024. Two sessions are available,  and the first 100 students who sign up for each session will be eligible to attend! This is a great chance to connect with employers and explore post-graduation options. The fair is open to any ISA or LEE seniors.  Students can scan the QR code in THIS flier and pick up a permission slip from the counseling office.

  • Big Ten Academic Alliance College Fair - Visit with representatives from BIG 10 schools on April 16, 2024! Students and families will be able to meet with several universities and learn about their application processes, scholarships and financial aid, academic programs, and campus life. Information for this event is on THIS flier!

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the LEE Student Council presents Romance in the City! Tickets for this year’s Junior/Senior prom cost $40 and go on sale Wednesday, March 20th during every lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Students who wish to invite a guest who does not attend school at LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM can pick up an off-campus guest form in the ISA Office.

Did you know that ISA opens our 30th year beginning in August? Globies past and present are brainstorming ways to celebrate this milestone, and we would love your creative input. The first opportunity to help is submitting design ideas for our 30th Anniversary t-shirt and anniversary posters! Click HERE for more details!

Finally, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, is our next--and final--campus early release day of the 2023-2024 school year.  School will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
