Community Update for March 3

Dear ISA Families,

As we prepare for our Spring Break at the end of this week, we remind families that Friday, March 8th, also marks the end of the 3rd grading quarter of the 2023-2024 school year! Students and families are encouraged to reach out to teachers with any questions about wrapping up the 3rd quarter.

On Monday, March 4th, the ISA Amigos will hold their next board meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Flex Space (S-103). Attendees can park in front of the LEE Main Entryway. Join us to discuss our upcoming 9th grade orientation and silent auction. All are welcome!

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the window to submit AP Exam payments for second semester AP courses (AP Comp. Govt. and AP Psychology) will close! Credit card payments can be submitted through Skyward:  Student Access--not Family Access. HERE are instructions about how to submit payment. Cash payments can be submitted to Ms. Schramm in the LEE Counseling Office.

Also on Tuesday, ISA sophomores will attend a Math and Science field trip to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. If your sophomore hasn't asked you to sign their field trip permission slip, please ask them about it, then send the signed permission slip back to school with your student. Additionally, the ISA Sophomore Team is looking for a few more parent chaperones for this field trip! If you have questions about the sophomore field trip please contact Bonnie Brawner at bbrawn@neisd.net or Ashley Gans at agans@neisd.net.

On Thursday, March 7th, ISA will welcome the Class of 2028 into our community for the first time! We will gather with our newest Globies at 5:30 p.m. in the LEE Auditorium! We are looking forward to introducing our newest Globies to the ISA experience on Thursday!

When we return from Spring Break we will jump into the week with several events to share!

  • Monday, March 18 - The ISA Transfer Application Opens! Students interested in transferring for their 10th or 11th grade year can apply at the ISA website!

  • Tuesday, March 19 - In school SAT for ISA juniors!

  • Wednesday, March 20 - Class of 2024 Summa Recognition Reception & Ceremony - 6:00 p.m. in the PAC

The post-Spring Break part of March is a busy time of year! We are excited to see families again in the hallways when we return! Please check the ISA Calendar for more details and times as they become available!

As ISA juniors prepare for our in-school administration of the SAT, remind your student that with their College Board account they have free access to Khan Academy SAT preparation materials that include practice questions, videos, lessons, hints, and test-taking tips!

On March 21st, the Amigos will raise funds to benefit all of our students. The silent auction committee is calling for donations to assemble gift baskets, any large ticket items, and gift cards. Proceeds from the silent auction will serve to advance the ISA Amigos’ mission to support the continued funding of experiences that enrich ISA students’ learning! If you are interested in making a donation for auction gift baskets, please use THIS Amazon Wishlist. If you, your employer or someone you know would like to donate a large ticket item or experience, please contact ISA Amigos at auction.isa.amgios@gmail.com

The ISA Amigos would like to share that it is not too late to give to the Globie Fund! ISA Families can support the mission of the Amigos Parent Booster organization with a contribution to the ISA 2023 Globie Fund. Donations are available in multiple increments and a donation of any amount is amazing and appreciated!

Finally, next week, March 11th through 15th, the ISA offices will be closed for Spring Break. This weekly update will also take a break next week. Look forward to the next update on March 17, 2024, as we prepare to welcome ISA students in the hallways again on Monday, March 18th for our last quarter of the 2023-2024 school year!

We wish our students, families, colleagues a great week and a safe, restful Spring Break!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
