Community Update for February 2
Dear ISA Families,
Friday was a wonderful and fun day at ISA! Afterschool, ISA teachers and staff sat down to call students who were drawn in our lottery extending an invitation to join the ISA Class of 2029! The tradition of calling our newest Globies goes back to our community’s earliest years and continues to be a special time for faculty and the ISA Community. The excitement of the afternoon was contagious, and we look forward to welcoming our newest Globies for an orientation later in February!
Early tomorrow morning (5:30 am check-in), ISA seniors will meet teachers and chaperones at the San Antonio Airport to kick-off their ISA travel experience to Washington, D.C.! Our seniors travel to a city with deep historical and political roots that plays host to a diverse international community. Our seniors will experience D.C. first hand through the lens of a chosen topic over the next week and bring their research experience back to San Antonio to finalize their recommendations for a better San Antonio!
This week is National School Counseling Week! We get to celebrate two of our most important, supportive humans on campus this week! Romelle Carraway, Natalie Stridde, and Yolanda Jones work daily to meet ISA student’s needs and not a day passes when students are not receiving support in the ISA counseling office. Ms. Carraway and Ms. Stridde have spent a great deal of time learning about how each of our students is unique while caring for the social and emotional needs of everyone. Please help us send our thanks and appreciation to Ms. Carraway, Ms. Stridde, and Ms. Jones for the compassion and expertise that they contribute to our community everyday!
On Tuesday, February 4th, the payment window for Spring AP courses will open. Payments of $40/$20 for Spring only classes may be made through Skyward. Since Ms. Carraway is traveling with our seniors in D.C. this week, families can make late payments of $80/$60 for full-year classes in person to Mrs. Beach in the ISA Main Office.
Looking ahead on Thursday, February 13th, the ISA Amigos Board will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Flex Space (S-103). Attendees can park in front of the LEE Main Entryway. All are welcome!
The ISA Amigos are preparing for their next ISA Teacher Appreciation event! The Amigos will host a luncheon on Monday, February 10th. Employing a “Rodeo” theme--think chili, cornbread, and cobbler, mmmmhhh--the Amigos are looking for donations of food, time, and/or money. Interested? Sign-up HERE!
We continue to plan for our next group of exchange visitors from Frankfurt, Germany, from March 26 - April 5, 2025. If your family is interested in hosting a student from our sister school in Frankfurt, click HERE!
