Community Update for October 30

Dear ISA Families,

In just under two weeks, ISA 9th, 10th, 11th graders, teachers, MAT Interns, and parent chaperones will depart on ISA’s fall travel experiences to Houston, New Mexico, and Alabama! Families unable to attend travel meetings last Thursday, can find links to travel presentations below:

Our nurse, Crystal Rios, will continue to receive travel medication through Wednesday, November 9. However, the deadline to receive specialized doctor’s orders is Monday, October 31, 2022!

More detailed information about medication procedures--including items we CANNOT accept is outlined on THIS medical information form.

On Friday last week, collaborative teams of ISA 9th graders traveled to LEE Cluster elementary schools to share their Storytelling Projects. Seeing our 9th graders perform their stories and work with 1st graders in group designed activities dealing with math, word recognition, and main idea comprehension is truly special. Knowing the level of collaborative planning, design, and communication that our students committed to this and other ISA learning experiences affirms that developing students who are cooperative, kind, and globally competent is an important part of realizing a better global community. Thank you to our 9th Grade Team and Grayson Bull for implementing and supporting such an important formative experience for our students!

ISA is participating in NEISD’s annual United Way Giving campaign. Back by popular demand this year, we want to include the ISA Community in a fun way! On Wednesday, November 2, students and faculty can tape Mr. Magadance to a pole during 5th lunch. Tickets for a strip of tape are available in the ISA office for a $1 donation. Students and staff can make their donation to Mrs. Rogers in ISA Main Office on Monday and Tuesday.

On Thursday, November 3, during Advisory, Jostens will be on campus to present graduation cap & gown information to ISA seniors. Jostens will return on Friday, November 11, 2022, during ALL lunches to accept cap & gown orders from seniors.

Also on Thursday, November 3, the LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM Community will celebrate this year’s National Merit Scholars! Join us at Comalander Stadium for the last football game of the season that begins at 7:00 p.m. and stay for the halftime presentation recognizing our cohort of 26 scholars and their families!

Looking ahead, the LEE High School Band is hosting their annual BBQ Fundraiser on November 12! Secure your BBQ plate by purchasing a ticket from any band or color guard member by October 31, 2022! Tickets are $10. Click the link to this Flier for more information.

Ms. Kohlmetz and Mr. Castillo will host a virtual meeting on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. to discuss ISA International Travel Experiences. Information about our summer trips to Germany and Cambodia will be shared! The application deadline for Germany and Cambodia will be Friday, November 11. Join the meeting at this link: https://meet.google.com/qzi-xcpx-mar

Friday, November 11, is the credit card payment deadline for AP Exams! Credit card transactions can be submitted through Skyward: Student Access--not Family Access. HERE are instructions about how to submit payment. Cash payments can be submitted to Ms. Schramm in the LEE Counseling Office.

Friday, October 28, marked the end of the third week of the 2nd quarter of the 2022-2023. Student progress reports will be available in Skyward by the end of this week!

We also wanted to share another reminder that our district’s Board of Trustees approved a calendar change earlier this year and Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, is now a student and teacher holiday!

Finally, Halloween falls on Monday this week. Please help remind your student(s) that costumes and masks are not allowed at school.

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
