Community Update for October 16

Dear ISA Families,

NEISD Gifted & Talented (GT) is hosting a district Parent Awareness Meeting on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at NEISD Community Learning Center (CLC). This meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about GT including K-12 GT services, gifted in Texas, referrals and assessment, GT curriculum, and parent resources. Interested families can review THIS flier for more information.

Our Campus PTSA has asked us to share THIS newsletter with updates about opportunities to support students across the campus!

On Friday, October 21, Lifetouch will be on-campus in the PERC for yearbook photo make-ups for grades 9-11.

ISA Seniors can still sit for senior portraits for this year’s yearbook! Here are the details:

  • Portrait appointments are available at the Prestige Studio

  • Seniors MUST be in cap and gown to be included in the yearbook.

  • On Monday, December 12, ISA seniors will have the opportunity to take photos on-campus in the PERC. This opportunity will also serve as this year’s yearbook photo.

On Saturday, October 22, 2022, the LEE Campus Student Council will present the LEE/ISA/STEM/NESA Homecoming Dance “Under the Neon Lights” from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Littleton Gymnasium. Beginning Monday, October 17, tickets for the dance will be available for $25 during all lunches beginning through October 21, 2022. Students will not be able to purchase a ticket for an off-campus guest at this time, and tickets will not be sold at the door. For more information please contact Student Council Sponsor Lucinda Castro at For more information about the dance and dressing themes for Spirit Week click the link!

Next week on October 27, grade level teams will host their next travel information meetings, and MUNSA will host our annual Pancake Supper in the LEE HS cafeteria! This event will also be the next opportunity to purchase ISA Spirit items. Pancakes will be served beginning at 5:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria, and grade level team meetings will begin by 6:00 p.m.

A representative from the Council on Educational Exchange (CIEE) will also be on campus during the evening to answer questions and provide information about the Global Navigator international exchange program. This year, CIEE has earmarked $25,000 in need-based and academic support for ISA applicants, and this is a great way for ISA students to explore their world during a summer exchange program.

Our campus nurse, Crystal Rios, is still accepting travel medication for our upcoming travel experiences! Nurse Rios has prepared some reminders and procedures to help families ensure that their students get what they need while traveling in November.

  • All medications, along with the proper forms, should be turned in to the campus clinic on or before Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

  • Special requests requiring doctor’s orders should be on file with the nurse by October 31, 2022!

  • NEISD employee chaperones will administer medication. Students may NOT carry ANY medication on their person unless they have a current doctor's order to self-carry from the school nurse for this school year.

  • If you are not sure about the above details or have any questions, please, contact Nurse Rios at (210) 356-0803 or by email at

More detailed information about procedures--including items we CANNOT accept is outlined on THIS medical information form.

Looking ahead, ISA 9th graders will travel to local elementary schools on October 28 as part of ISA’s annual Storytelling Project. In collaborative teams, ISA 9th graders are currently preparing skits recreating stories from across the world that they will debut to elementary school students. This cooperative experience provides our 9th graders with an opportunity to practice the collaborative skills they will need for future work with classmates at ISA and beyond high school.

ISA Seniors interested in fulfilling their Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirement for college are encouraged to read THIS information and use the google form embedded to sign up for the TSI!

Students interested in the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) can sign up for the ASVAB using THIS Google form. The ASVAB is a research-based and highly respected aptitude test developed by the Department of Defense. It measures a young adult’s strengths and potential for success in military training. In addition to a military entrance exam, the ASVAB can be used as a tool to help students explore career options. The ASVAB is open to any 10th, 11th , or 12th grader. The deadline to sign up for ASVAB is Monday, November 7, 2022. The next ASVAB will be on February 9, 2023.

Finally, Tuesday, October 25, is our district’s next early release day! School will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

Have a wonderful week!
